Something I’ve been thinking about lately is about litter. I will define litter as trash that is not placed in a proper receptacle but is rather just lying on the floor, ground, outside, etc.
What percentage of litter is actually intentional littering? How much is accidental; something fell out of your pocket or bag and you didn’t realize it. How much is unintentional? An example would be you set your cup somewhere and just forgot it. Or, how much is when someone just throws their trash somewhere and doesn’t care? Or when there is no trash can and people justify their actions based upon the situation?

1. Intentional littering; cigarette butts on ground
2. situational littering; no trash can, so littering because no place to put it
3. unintentional littering; leaving trash somewhere
4. accidental littering; something fell out of pocket or bag
