During the short time that my classmates and I were on our internships last year, my sister-in-law’s dad, Ron Love, was diagnosed and passed away from a brain tumor.

Today, hundreds of us rejoin in Ron’s memory to raise awareness of brain cancer and funds for treatment and research in the 1st Annual Ron Love Walk for Hope, supporting the American Brain Tumor Association.

About Ron:

Ron Love was a strong man of faith that had the biggest challenge he’d ever faced come into his life in the form of a brain tumor. On June 10, 2010 Ron received the diagnosis that he had a Grade III Astrocytoma in the left side of his brain, it was in such a place that surgery was not an option, and so he started treatment with chemo and radiation. Ron made a valient effort to beat this brain tumor and was able to bring life and love into many peoples lives as he battled for the next 6 months. On December 5th, 2010, Ron went home to be with his maker. He and his wife, Joyce, loved taking daily walks together. It seemed like the most appropriate way to honor him with an activity that he loved and was known for in his small tight-knit community. We hope this walk brings awareness to the silent cancer that is often not detected or misdiagnosed until it has progressed too far, as well as, raise money to help research find a cure that brings both physical wellness and a good quality of life during treatment.
